Starbucks has apologized to a Louisiana Catholic schoolteacher who was served two lattes that were allegedly marked with drawings of satanic symbols with caramel syrup. One cup featured "666," which is attributed to the mark of Satan, while the other had a star that appeared to be a pentagram.

After receiving the cups of coffee at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on Sunday, Megan K. Pinion said she was "appalled" and posted a picture of the drinks on Facebook.

"I unfortunately can't give the young man's name who served it, because I was so appalled that I could not bring myself to look at him," Pinion wrote on the post. "The star is almost okay because it is in your Starbucks logo, the 666, however, was quite offensive. I am in no way judging his beliefs or dis-meriting his beautiful artwork, I am however judging [the barista's] lack of professionalism and respect for others."

In response, Starbucks apologized to Pinion. "We reached out to her through social media and apologized," said spokesman Tom Kuhn. "We're taking the complaint seriously and have sincerely apologized for her experience," Kuhn told The Huffington Post. "This obviously is not the type of experience we want to provide any of our customers, and is not representative of the customer service our partners provide to millions of customers every day."

Kuhn declined to reveal whether the employee who was serving coffee at the Louisiana location would be disciplined or fired. "We do not discuss details about individuals' employment with our company," said Kuhn.
