Timothy Bradley is confident that he can score a convincing victory without knocking out Manny Pacquiao in their upcoming rematch on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Bradley reiterated on Monday that he wants to prove that his previous split decision victory over Pacquiao is no fluke, contrary to some who claim Pacquiao was robbed of an obvious win.
But while he is looking to get an unquestioned win in their rematch, Bradley, who holds a 31-0 record, said that scoring a knockout is not necessary to prove his doubters wrong.
"I have already beat Pacquiao once and that was on my first try," Bradley said, via BoxingScene. "I don't think I have to knock him out to get a definite result but if the knockout presents itself I will take advantage of it."
Bradley pointed out that his current situation is different than that of Juan Manuel Marquez before his fourth showdown with Pacquiao in December 2012.
The reigning WBO welterweight champion said that Marquez was in a bigger hole against Pacquiao because he failed to score a victory in their first three showdowns, adding that the Mexican boxing icon had no other choice but to score a knockout to get his vindication.
"Marquez was in a little bit of a bigger hole when he knocked him out," Bradley said. "He had fought him three times and was not able to secure a win in any of the first three fights. He had tried everything and had failed so a knockout was the only way he would win."
Bradley, who also claimed that he defeated Pacquiao with two bad feet in their first showdown, vowed to leave no stone unturned, saying that he will make the necessary adjustments to keep his record unscathed.
"I will be faster than Pacquiao, I will have better defense than Pacquiao, I will be hungrier than Pacquiao," Bradley said. "I have been in the ring with Pacquiao so I know exactly what to expect. There are a few adjustments that I will make and with two good feet under me and at the end of the night I will be victorious again."
