It was a race against time to save Van Pelt on the latest episode of "The Mentalist."

In "White as the Driven Snow," Risby (Owain Yeoman) and Cho (Tim Kang) arrive at Rigsby's (Amanda Righetti) motel to find that her door is open, and that she's missing. Meanwhile, Van Pelt wakes up alone in a basement.

The FBI starts working to track down Van Pelt. They all believe that Richard Haibach kidnapped her. Just then, Haibach arrives at the FBI. He speaks with Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and Jane (Simon Baker), saying he was not involved in Van Pelt's abduction, and that he has an alibi for when she was kidnapped.

However, Jane and the rest of the team are still sure that Haibach was responsible for her kidnapping, and that he came to the FBI office to relish their search for Van Pelt. They also think he has an accomplice.

While the FBI is searching, Van Pelt manages to escape the basement. She escapes to find that she's in the mountains. It begins snowing as she starts walking, looking for help. She spots a car, and stops the woman in the car to ask to use her phone. Her phone isn't working, so the woman tells her that she has a cabin that has a working phone that she can use.

At the FBI, they find that Haibach has a sister named Hazel. But they don't have enough to charge him, so they let him go.

As for Van Pelt, she arrives at the woman's cabin, and immediately realizes that something is wrong. It turns out the woman is Haibach's sister, Hazel. She is helping her brother make the former CBI team pay for what they--and especially Jane--did to him.

At the FBI station, Haibach and his lawyer are leaving in a rental car, which they discover is being driven by Jane, and Rigsby is with him.

They let Haibach's lawyer go, then go on a journey with Haibach to lead them to Van Pelt. Haibach takes them to the house where he is holding Van Pelt hostage, only to find that she escaped. They eventually go to his sister's cabin.

They get to the cabin and get into a gun fight, and Rigsby gets shot twice. Haibach and his sister are about to kill Jane and Van Pelt when Rigsby comes back, disarming the sister and killing Haibach.

Everyone survives, and Rigsby and Van Pelt decide to leave the former CBI team for good.

In the next episode, Pedro Pascal will guest star as an FBI agent Agent Pike, as well as Lisbon's new love interest. He will have a five-episode stint on the series.

TVLine hints that Jane will come between the two in the next episode, as Jane will go undercover with Lisbon as pretend husband and wife.

On the next episode, "Violets," "Jane's latest ruse is a dangerous sting operation to catch art thieves. An FBI agent from the art squad hits it off with Lisbon."

Watch the promo for "Violets" below, which airs Sunday, March 30 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
