The 2014 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 will kick off Thursday with four teams from the South Region aiming to move one step closer to earning a shot at advancing to the Final Four.

The Stanford Cardinals and the Dayton Flyers will open Thursday's festivities when they collide at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn.

The 10th-seeded Stanford squad and the 11th-seeded Flyers have been overachieving in the tournament, eliminating higher-ranked opponents to reach the Sweet 16.

Stanford ended the Kansas Jayhawks' title hopes this year after pulling off a 60-57 upset win in their third round showdown on Sunday.

The Cardinal failed to convert a three-pointer, but they stepped up on the defensive end of the floor, limiting the Jayhawks to just 32.8 percent shooting from the field.

Andrew Wiggins, the Jayhawks star and potential first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, was also limited to just four points—his second-lowest output in his one-and-done season in Kansas.

Dayton, on the other hand, opened their tournament campaign with a stunning 60-59 win over Ohio State, which was followed by another upset victory, defeating the Syracuse Orangemen, 55-53, in the third round.

Dayton senior center Matt Kavanaugh is hoping that they will be this year's Cinderella team.

"Every year there's that one team in the like final eight, Final Four that no one expected to be there, and that's been our mantra like 'Why can't that be us this year?" Kavanaugh said, ESPN reported.

The winner of the Dayton-Stanford showdown will face either the Florida Gators or UCLA Bruins in the Elite Eight on Saturday.

The top-seeded Gators and the fourth-seeded Bruins will look to earn a spot in the next round when they go up against each other following Dayton and Stanford's match.

The Gators blew out Albany and Pittsburgh in their first two games, while the Bruins dominated Tulsa and Stephen F. Austin in the second and third round of the tournament.

Gators point guard Scottie Wilbekin, who is averaging 13.1 points and 3.7 assists this season, will have his work cut out for him as he will be going up against Bruins' 6-foot-9 guard Kyle Anderson.

T.V. Schedule and Live Stream

The Dayton-Stanford match will tip off at 7:15 p.m. EST followed by the UCLA-Florida game at 9:45 p.m. EST. Both games will be shown live on CBS, while online streaming will be available via the NCAA's official March Madness Live site.
