Top-seeded teams Connecticut Huskies and South Carolina Gamecocks will look to advance to the third round of the 2014 Women's NCAA Tournament.

The undefeated Huskies will face the ninth-seeded Saint Joseph's Hawks on Wednesday night at the Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.

The top-ranked Huskies, who hold a 35-0 record this season, are coming off a dominating 87-44 win over No. 16 seed Prairie View A&M Panthers in the first round of the tournament on Sunday.

The Hawks, on the other hand, are coming off a 67-57 win over the Georgia Lady Bulldogs in the opening round, which marked their first victory in an NCAA Tournament in 14 years.

The Huskies, who are looking to win their second-straight national title and ninth overall, will be a heavy favorite heading into Tuesday's showdown, but Hawks coach Cindy Griffin is not intimidated by their unbeaten opponent.

"It's no secret that UConn is the best team in the country, but it's an opportunity," Griffin said via ESPN. "If you're going to play in this tournament then why not play the best and challenge yourself against the best."

Meanwhile, the Gamecocks will also look to advance to the Sweet 16 when they collide with ninth-seeded Oregon State Beavers at the Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, Wash.

The Gamecocks, who are having their best season under head coach Dawn Staley, opened up their 2014 NCAA Tournament campaign with an impressive 73-58 win over the Cal State Northbridge Matadors on Sunday.

The Beavers are also coming off a convincing win in their tournament opener, cruising to a 55-36 win over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders led by Sydney Wiese's 26-point explosion.

South Carolina, who earned a No. 1 seed for the first time in school history, will look to slow down the Beavers, particularly their three-point shooting. Oregon State knocked down 10 three-pointers against Middle Tennessee.

"We're just going to have to hone in on their three-pointer shooters," South Carolina guard Tiffany Mitchell said. "That's where most of their production comes from. If we can eliminate that, we should be fine."
