Jackson's mother stirred up trouble and Richard received a big surprise on the latest episode of "Grey's Anatomy."

In "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," a patient comes in with severe stomach pains, and it turns out their stomach has absorbed a twin fetus. Richard (James Pickens Jr.) successfully completes the difficult surgery.

Catherine Avery, Jackson's (Jesse Williams) mother, comes to visit, and she's not happy that Jackson and April (Sarah Drew) are married. She even hints that April must be a gold digger. But in the end, April sees through her ornery facade and patches things up.

Now that the mother-in-law situation is squared away, the couple has to focus on figuring out their future, which will be just as tricky.

Meanwhile, Cristina (Sandra Oh) becomes obsessed with finding a new girlfriend for Owen (Kevin McKidd).

Callie (Sara Ramirez) is upset about Derek (Patrick Dempsey) trying to steal her sensors. She's angry because she was using them to help people walk again, but Derek is going to put a stop to it because of his project for the president. Callie calls in a lawyer to figure out how to keep her program going. Derek and Callie have a big argument, and Derek realizes that Callie's right. He threatens to leave the president's project if they are not allowed to share the sensors.

Alex (Justin Chambers) spends the episode trying to get Jo (Camilla Luddington) to sign their relationship contract, but she resists, saying that things get ruined whenever she signs a contract. But Alex eventually convinces her, and they continue their relationship out in the open.

Also, the hospital has a surprise party for Richard, and Owen offers him a wonderful gift. Instead of asking him to retire, he offers Richard the position as director of the residency program.

On next week's episode, "Do You Know," "Cristina imagines the two routes her life can take based on one decision she makes. Meanwhile, one of the hospital's patients decides whether or not to live."

In the episode, Anne Dudek will guest-star as the wife of the patient who is deciding whether or not to continue living, according to TVLine.

Then in the April 3 episode, "You Be Illin," a case of the flu will hit Grey Sloan, which will threaten a big presentation that Derek has to give. Patrick Fabian ("Big Love") will also debut as Dr. Oliver Lebackes, a new specialist.

The episode will also feature a steamy hookup in an elevator.

Also, Caterina Scorsone will return to the drama in May as Derek Shepherd's youngest sister. But the substance-abusing surgeon won't reappear for just one episode--her part will recur throughout the remainder of the season.
