Do you miss the days when a young Ryan Gosling sang and danced on "The Mickey Mouse Club?"
Well, you're in luck because the actor is set to produce and possibly star in a new movie about iconic choreographer Busby Berkeley, according to MTV. Though there should be plenty of dancing, this biopic will still be pretty serious. Berkeley had a troubled life off the stage.
After a stint in the military during World War I, Berkeley followed his family's footsteps into showbiz. One of his signatures was using an overhead camera as the dancers moved and changed formation to appear sort of like a kaleidoscope. This is used to this day.
He still influences cinema and TV today through other aspects of his choreography as well. For example, the dancing and singing dishware in "Beauty and the Beast" and the dancing scene from "The Big Lebowski."
Berkeley was married six times, and he had some drama in his life. He and Judy Garland didn't always get along, especially in the 1943 movie, "Girl Crazy." Garland was emaciated, battling addiction and going through a divorce, but Berkeley still got an amazing finale number.
Warner Bros. is also tied to the biography "Buzz: The Life and Art of Busby Berkeley," which was written by Jeffrey Spivak, said Variety.
Gosling would work with Marc Platt, who produced "Drive." Gosling just finished his directorial debut on the film "How to Catch a Monster."
The studio is now looking for a writer for the movie's script.
It'll be exciting to see this new side of Ryan Gosling, but it also means that some celebrities are going to channel Old Hollywood stars.
