Phil Jackson was officially introduced as the New York Knicks team president Tuesday, and new reports indicated that finding a new coach will be his first order of business in the offseason.

Jackson, who will have full control of the Knicks' front office, will reportedly implement the triangle offense next season, which means that he will look for a coach with knowledge of the complex offensive system that helped him win 11 NBA championships as a coach.

According to Yahoo Sports, former Phoenix Suns general manager Steve Kerr, who played under Jackson in his final three seasons with the Chicago Bulls, is reportedly on top of Jackson's list of coaching candidates.

Sources also reported that when the Sacramento Kings were on the verge of moving to Seattle, Kerr was contacted by Jackson to gauge his interest in coaching the team.

"They're going to implement a system here - the triangle offense - and Jackson plans to pursue Steve Kerr to come coach the Knicks. Jackson had convinced Kerr to come to Seattle as his coach, league sources told Yahoo Sports, only to have those plans foiled when a purchase agreement with the Sacramento Kings fell apart," Yahoo Sports noted.

Kerr, who has no previous coaching experience, was aware of the rumors about Jackson's interest in naming him as the next Knicks head coach, but he called the talks "awkward," saying that it is improper to discuss since Mike Woodson is still the Knicks head coach at this point.

"It's very awkward because it is just speculation," Kerr said in an interview, NY Daily News reported. "More than anything, you're talking about somebody else's job."

When asked about his interest in becoming a coach one day, Kerr didn't rule out the possibility of coaching a team in the near future.

"I've been talking about it the last couple years," Kerr said. "I left Phoenix when I was the general manager knowing I didn't want to get back into management but feeling like coaching would be a possibility at some point. I love being on the floor with the players and as a GM I was like there one percent of the time. I love the game."
