Manny Pacquiao is itching to face Timothy Bradley in their rematch on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas—he has promised to make the WBO welterweight champion eat his words.
Bradley recently said that Pacquiao is already a shell of his former self after showing no killer instinct in his previous fights. And it sounds like Pacquiao heard him loud and clear.
Pacquiao said that Bradley's statement only motivated him to train harder, and ensure that he wins every round in their rematch.
"I intend to win all the rounds against him this time regardless of the length of the fight," Pacquiao said, BoxingScene reported. "He said I have lost my hunger and that my time is over. Everything I am doing in training camp is aimed at proving to him just how wrong he is."
The former pound-for-pound king said that he respects Bradley, but he will show no fear on April 12. Pacquiao warned that that he will be back into his old self—he was previously considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
"I have all the respect for Bradley and what he has accomplished but I have no fear of him," Pacquiao said. "He has inspired me to exceed my previous performances inside the ring. If Bradley wants to meet the fighter who stopped Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera, he's going to get his wish on April 12."
Pacquiao added that he will look to score a knockout win to show that he still has his vaunted killer instinct, but he also said that he will stay patient to avoid the same mistake he made when he absorbed a sixth-round knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012.
"I still have the killer instinct," Pacquiao stressed. "I am not afraid to use my power and go for the knockout. But I will remember the lesson I learned from my last fight with Marquez. Knockouts need to come naturally, you should not force them."
