March Madness will officially kick off on Tuesday with two First Four basketball games in the 2014 NCAA tournament featuring teams that are itching to advance to the second round of this year's hoops tourney.

The Albany Great Danes and the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers will collide in the first game of the tournament on Tuesday at the University of Dayton Arena in Ohio.

The Great Danes earned their second consecutive NCAA tournament berth with an upset victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves in the America East Championship match on Saturday.

The Mountaineers also pulled off a stunning 88-71 upset win over top-seeded Robert Morris Colonials in the Northeast Conference title match, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008.

Peter Hooley is expected to lead the Great Danes' offensive attack as he averaged 15.7 points during the regular season, while the Mountaineers will lean on Rashad Whack and Julian Norfleet, who averaged 17.7 and 17.5 points in 32 games, respectively.

The Great Danes and the Mountaineers have two contrasting styles, with Albany relying on their inside scoring and Mount St. Mary's focusing on their three-point shooting prowess. The Mountaineers had 797 attempts from beyond the arc during the regular season, while the Great Danes had 431.

The Great Danes-Mountaineers match will tip off at 6:40 a.m. EST. The winner will face top-seeded Florida Gators in the second round on Thursday in Orlando, Fla.

Meanwhile, the North Carolina State Wolfpack and the Xavier Musketeers will also look to advance to the second round when they go up against each other in Tuesday's second match.

Both teams earned spots in this year's tournament despite failing to win the title in their respective conferences.

The Wolfpack fell short in the semifinals against the Duke Blue Devils in the ACC Tournament semifinals, while the Xavier Musketeers lost against Creighton in the Big East Tournament semifinals.

Semaj Christon, who leads Xavier in scoring with 17.1 points per game, is expected to go toe-to-toe with his former Brewster Academy teammate T.J. Warren, who averaged 24.8 points during the regular season.

TV Schedule

The winner of the NC State-Xavier showdown, which is scheduled to start at 9:10 p.m. EST, will face the Saint Louis Billikens in the second round of the tournament.

Both games will be broadcasted live via truTV.
