Designer L'Wren Scott, 47, was found dead in her New York City apartment on Monday hanging by a scarf on a doorknob.

Scott, Mick Jagger's longtime girlfriend, was discovered by an assistant around 10 a.m. The Associated Press reports that no note was found and there is no sign of a foul play; her death is suspected to be a suicide, according to USA Today.

The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner's office.

Mick Jagger's spokesman said he was "completely shocked and devastated" by Scott's death. The two had been dating for more than a decade. Jagger is currently on tour in Australia.

The 6-foot-3 designer, who was discovered by fashion photographer Bruce Weber, did not show up at London Fashion Week this past month after cancelling at the last minute. Scott said it was because fabrics had arrived too late to be sewn in time, according to the New York Post.

An industry source said that the real reason she didn't show was because "L'Wren's business just crashed."

Another source added, "I knew something was wrong when L'Wren canceled her London Fashion Week show. That would have been so important to her. She was very prolific on Instagram and recently had gone quiet and hadn't been posting so much."

Scott was adopted by Mormon parents and raised in Utah. She changed her name from Luann Bambrough when she began modeling for Chanel and Thierry Mugler. She later became a celebrity stylist. Eventually, she started designing. Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman and Michelle Obama have worn her designs in the past.

Scott had been working on a new collaboration with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, after working with Banana Republic on a holiday collaboration.

According to Fashionista, police, addressing a crowd in front of her building, would not confirm if it was her body found in the apartment as the investigation is still underway.
