One of the members from Tupac Shakur's rap group Outlawz was arrested and sentenced for beating up his girlfriend and causing her to lose her hearing.

On Thursday, Stormey Courtney Coleman pled guilty in a Melbourne Magistrates Court to recklessly causing serious injury, intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault, reports theage.com.

The 37-year-old rapper grabbed his then-partner by the hair and punched her three times in the left ear and cheek during an argument in her home in June 2013. The beating left the woman without hearing for two to three months, during which she says she was in a constant state of fear of permanent hearing loss.

In a victim impact statement read to court, the woman said she was unable to hear for months, had a constant ringing in her ears and could not exercise or shower properly, for fear of suffering further damage to her eardrum. The woman said her hearing loss also inhibited her ability to work as a sales consultant.

"My whole world felt like it had stopped. It was the lowest point of my life," she said at the court.

The woman regained full hearing about three months after the domestic incident.

Defense counsel James Loftus said Coleman punched the woman after she slapped him. However, he added that the beating was "undoubtedly and unacceptably disproportionate" to any threat Coleman felt.

Coleman reportedly fled the United States and settled in Australia in 2011 to escape the violence that killed his four brothers.

He was sentenced to six days in custody; however, because he had been locked up for a week it was ruled he completed his time. In addition, he must also serve a 12-month community corrections order with conviction, participate in a violence prevention program and complete 150 hours of community work, reports AllHipHop.com.
