When "Hart of Dixie" returns, a future episode may focus on Crazy Earl's hidden treasures.
In a previous episode, Earl hid money in various spots in his home for an unknown reason. According to TVLine, the writers are aware that the matter has not been brought up since. While the writers are not revealing when they will return to the plot point, they are aware that they left it hanging, and will most likely return to it.
On the last "Heart of Dixie" before its hiatus, Zoe's birthday became increasingly complicated after an unexpected guest arrived.
In "Act Naturally," Zoe (Rachel Bilson) has a birthday coming up, so Joel (Josh Cooke)--who knows his girlfriend doesn't like having birthday parties--convinces her to let him throw one for her at Lavon's (Cress Williams) with some close friends and family.
Lavon is still upset over his breakup with Annabeth (Kaitlyn Black), as is Annabeth. Annabeth decides to rejoin the Belles to take her mind off her heartbreak.
The next day, Zoe wakes up to Joel bringing her breakfast in bed. But Zoe's delight turns to dread when she hears her mom's voice, and Zoe tells Joel that he hopes he didn't invite her to the party. Her mother then tells her that she wants to take her out to dinner, so Zoe tells Joel to cancel the party.
Yet, Joel doesn't have the heart to cancel the party after he sees all that Lavon has done to prepare for the event.
Zoe and her mom then run into Wade (Wilson Bethel), who ends up getting get slapped by Zoe's mom. Back at the house, Zoe runs into Wade's father, "Crazy" Earl, who was never told about Zoe and Wade's breakup.
After Zoe finds out that her party is still on, she decides to go to dinner with her mom, but leaves to attend the party at Lavon's by telling her mom that she has to leave to help a patient. She'll then attend the party at Lavon's, but leave the party by pretending that Joel is sick, then go back to dinner with her mother in time to blow out her birthday candles.
But, as expected, the plan doesn't go very smoothly. Zoe's mother gets irritated every time Zoe goes to help her patient, "Shula." Zoe also gets stuck at her party because Crazy Earl comes to meet Wade's new girlfriend, and says he doesn't like Vivian (Lauren Bittner), insisting that Zoe is better for Wade.
When Wade comes to take Earl home, Zoe goes to leave, but is stopped by a distressed Lavon, who asks her if something is wrong with him, as everyone seems to leave him.
Back at the restaurant, Zoe's mother is becoming even more perturbed. Joel mentions Shula, who is a real patient who happens to be in the same restaurant. Shula turns around and speaks to them, making Zoe's mother angry.
At the party, Zoe tries to comfort Lavon, telling him he would do more harm if he married someone he didn't love. Then Zoe calls Joel to tell him to stop lying and come to the party, but they are already there. Her mom is disappointed in her, but doesn't say it. Yet, Zoe's mother begins to have a good time once she meets the Wilkes family, with whom she appears to be getting along swimmingly.
The next day at breakfast, her mom mentions that she should "not let the Wilkes family win." Her mother then explains that she has decided to move to Bluebell as well.
"Hart of Dixie" is now on a hiatus, and will return on March 21. When the series resumes, Lemon (Jaime King) will come back to Bluebell with two suitors after her heart.
The series will resume on its new night, Friday, on March 21 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
