Former world's No. 1 and 17-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer tries to resume his winning run in Indian Wells, but not before taking on old rival Tommy Haas in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open.

Federer is having another splendid tourney so far, beating the opposition with superior tennis skills and experience on the hard court. After dispatching his first two opponents with ease, Federer had to pull out almost everything in his bag of tricks in order for him to grind out a 7-6 (7), 7-6 victory over Dmitry Tursonov of Russia in the third round.

With that tough victory, the Swiss Master punched his way to the fourth round, where he will take on a familiar foe in Haas. Federer and Haas trace their rivalry way back to their junior days, making this latest encounter extra special.

In a recent interview with My Desert, Federer reflected on the years where he was just an up-and-coming kid from Switzerland surrounded by tennis elites such as Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and Gustavo Kuarten.

"For me, it was amazing times back then playing on the tour, because those were the guys I knew from TV," Federer told My Desert. "Those are the guys that are not old guys, they are the guys I knew from TV, guys I maybe wanted to play against one day, but it's such a far away dream you don't think it's ever going to happen."

On Wednesday, Federer will be facing another remnants of the 90s era in Haas, who secured his third round spot with a 7-6, 6-2 win over rising star Kei Nishikori of Japan.

Meanwhile, another former top-ranked player will also hit the court on Wednesday as Novak Djokovic plays Marin Cilic in their fourth round clash. Djokovic is looking for a morale-boosting tournament win after bowing out in the Australian Open quarterfinals and the Dubai International Open semifinals.
