"Lo Que La Vida Me Robó" star Angelique Boyer and Televisa producer José Alberto Castro have ended their three-year relationship.
Boyer shared an image on Twitter that turned out to be a joint statement. "Through this medium we want to inform you that after a marvelous relationship full of love, we have decided to end it. In this moment in our lives we need to confront responsibilities that haven't allowed us to maintain, as it should be, our love. We ask for your understanding and respect, and that no speculation should arise. We will not make any further statement," wrote Boyer on Twitter.
The two met on the set of the 2010 telenovela "Teresa." The two didn't confirm their relationship until they were done filming.
From the beginning, it was a controversial relationship; the producer is more than 25 years older than the actress. Her parents also never approved of the relationship.
Last year, her parents said he was a bad influence on their daughter, according to Univision.
"Well we are very sad. Her relationship with El Güero worries us very much. He's an alcoholic and drug addict and he's putting my daughter at risk," said her father, who added that they hadn't spoken to their daughter in some time. "El Güero is doing everything he can to keep her away from us."
This year Boyer's mother has been ill, and though she has wanted to be at her mother's side, work has made it difficult to be there for her. "Lo Que La Vida Me Robó" was supposed to end in May, but the show will now end later.
Boyer and Castro started living together in May 2013, where she explained how happy she was to be a part of his life and vice versa. The last time the two were seen together was on the red carpet two weeks ago.
