Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is an overwhelming favorite heading into his match with Alfredo Angulo, but Brandon Rios believes that "El Perro" will pull off a stunning win over his more celebrated opponent.

In an interview this week with BoxingScene, Rios said that Angulo might be considered as the underdog, but he expects an upset for the 31-year-old Angulo in his showdown with Canelo on Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"I'm going for Angulo. I love underdogs," Rios said. "I don't know it's going to be a knockout or a decision, but I'm going for Angulo. It could be a knockout in the late rounds. But it could be a decision. I'm just going for Angulo, because he's the underdog and I love underdogs."

Canelo Alvarez Fails to Make Contracted Weight

Meanwhile, Alvarez was unable to make the 154-pound weight limit for the ShowTime pay-per-view showdown, forcing promoters to change the catch weight for the Saturday's fight.

Reports indicated that Alvarez was penalized with a $100,000 fine for failing to make the contracted weight. Under the new agreement, the new weight limit is at 155 pounds, and both fighters will undergo secondary weigh-in on Saturday and must weight below 168 pounds.

Despite having their fight purse raised to $850,000 after Alvarez's penalty, Angulo's trainer expressed disappointment over the unfortunate turn of events, saying that a boxer should know the importance of working hard to make the weight limit.

"It's unfortunate that they have not figured out a way for him to make the weight," Hunter said. "It's unfortunate that nobody can sit down and talk to him about the importance of making the weight when fans are paying big money to watch it live and in their homes. It's the responsibility of the fighter to make the weight."

Hunter said that Alvarez's failure to reach the weight limit sends the wrong message to fighters who are already earning big money for their bouts.

"It sends a real bad message to other fighters who start making big money - that this is okay," Hunter stressed.

Alvarez, who will look to get back on winning track after losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, also failed to make the 150-pound weight limit during his showdown with Matthew Hatton in 2011.
