On Monday, "Bones" will return from its winter hiatus with an all-new episode in which Booth will team up with the CIA to hunt down a terrorist and Brennan will try to prove herself while working out in the field. "Scooby-Doo" and "24" star Freddie Prinze, Jr. will also reprise his role as Danny Beck in the upcoming episode, "The Source in the Sludge."

According to Ksite, an official synopsis of the new episode reads: "When a CIA informant is found murdered, Booth and CIA Agent Danny Beck (guest star Freddie Prinze Jr.) must work together to track down an Afghani terrorist. Meanwhile, Brennan wants to work more closely with Booth in the field, and the duo must confront the implications of what that means to their family."

A promo clip reveals that Brennan's insurance company will state that she has a higher health risk than Booth while they're out in the field and the whole team will be preoccupied with the latest case. However, Brennan will become weary that no one is questioning Prinze's character's authority, reports the Hollywood Hills.

Executive producer Stephen Nathan also dropped a few teasers about Episode 16, telling TVLine, "We wanted to do an episode where we really saw the friendship between Booth and Danny, and also touch on the things that kept them apart. What kind of a friendship exists when one person's life is all secrets? And Danny's got a lot of secrets."

Nathan also elaborated about how Brennan will react to buying a life insurance policy. "Her rates are far more than Booth's, and she doesn't understand why since both of them are essentially doing the same job," Nathan said. "She's penalized for going into the field and Booth is not. It's a way for us to explore the difference between their [professional] partnership and the marriage."

Now that another season of the Fox comedy drama series has been confirmed, Nathan announced that Season 9 will end with a major cliffhanger.

"We're ending the year in a very surprising way," said the EP. "Two different stories converge and it throws Booth and Brennan's work relationship into turmoil and causes big, big changes for our people."

Nathan continued, revealing that one plot will center on "a promotion that seems to exist within the FBI and they have their eye on Booth to fill this position," while the other storyline focuses on an invisible serial killer. "The Ghost Killer [arc] becomes far more complex and conspiratorial, and very well might lead back to the FBI," he said. 

As we near the final stretch of Season 9, TVLine revealed that viewers can look forward to Camille's introduction to Arastoo's very traditional and possibly judgmental mother and father. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show cast "Grimm" star Shohreh Aghdashloo to play the squintern's mom Deena Vaziri, who will be anxious to meet her prospective future daughter-in-law.

In other "Bones" news, contrary to Twitter rumors, Nathan asserts that fans should not expect to see an undercover episode featuring Tony and Roxy.

Booth and Brennan "will be going someplace they have never been before - the world of female impersonators," said the EP to TVLine, adding that "It's not an undercover episode," so don't expect to see David Boreanaz donning a wig and fishnets.

S9E16 "The Source in the Sludge" of "Bones" airs Monday, March 10 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
