Karl Lagerfeld is currently one of the most important and well-known fashion designers, but he sure does love to dabble.

Lagerfeld has designed for Diet Coke and regularly shoots fashion campaigns, and now he will also design a Macau hotel.

The 270-room hotel will be 20 stories tall, and will open in 2017. Lagerfeld is teaming up with a Macau casino operator, according to The Guardian.

"An entire hotel designed by me," he said. "It's the first time for me. I think the idea is great."

Based off Lagerfeld's fashion shows, such as this week's high-fashion supermarket, it will probably be one of the most luxurious, over-the-top hotels around. This is the same man that brought us the hula hoop purse bag that was supposed to be a beach accessory and the Chanel backpack, which was first carried by starlet Kristen Stewart.

Lagerfeld is not the only designer getting into the hotel business. It was announced in September that the Lisboa Palace complex would be designed by the Italian fashion label Versace.

SJM, which was founded by Stanley Ho, held a monopoly on gambling in Macau until 2004. Macau is the only place where gambling is legal in China, and it made about six times more revenue than Las Vegas did in 2012.

The announcement didn't provide any financial details about the hotel, but the hotel is being developed under the brand Karl Lagerfeld Greater China.

As Lagerfeld's hotel gets underway, the designer is going to be quite busy.

On top of running Chanel, he is also the creative director for Fendi and his own eponymous label and stages several shows a year for the brands.
