"The Vampire Diaries" will premiere an all-new episode Thursday, filled with more surprise twists and tense moments now that it's been revealed that Katherine has been in control of Elena's body.

During last week's episode, Enzo had a narrow escape from death while he was trapped in a house with Damon who had a craving for vampire blood. Fortunately for him, Dr. Wes stepped in right in the nick of time and whisked Enzo away, reports Hypable.

Viewers were also hit with a major moment when Katherine's secret was finally uncovered. Now it will be up to Stefan, Caroline, and Matt to save Elena before it's too late in the upcoming episode, "Gone Girl."

In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Caroline Dries dropped a number of teasers about what will come of Katherine and Elena, now that Katherine has been exposed.

"Elena will ultimately return to the show, back to her friends and her old life, but there will be the fallout from everything Katherine left in her wake," Dries said. "Just when he [Stefan] seemed to finally be getting over Elena and starting to heal, Katherine stormed into his life and reopened that wound."

Although Stefan and Damon will be stunned to know that Elena was possessed by Katherine, Dries said that their shock "will be trumped by the fact that they need to figure out how to get Elena back." She explained, saying: "That's the more urgent thing, so ultimately, they have to figure out how to mastermind the master manipulator. It becomes a 'Katherine vs. our heroes' kind of storyline, which is very fun."

Dries went on to tease what will happen to Katherine once she leaves Elena's body when asked if Katherine will disappear or jump into someone else's body. "That's something everyone will have to wait and see, but I will say that what happens with that is something we've never done on the show before. It's pretty final," said the EP.

While the Mystic Falls crew desperately tries to save Elena in "Gone Girl," Nadia will be in flashback mode, recalling her centuries-long search for her mother. Because Nadia isn't going to let her mother go without a fight and the Travelers have her back, Stefan and the gang are going to have a battle on their hands, notes WetPaint.

Meanwhile, Katherine wants Nadia to kill Matt because he knows too much, however, Nadia's feelings toward him prevent her from doing so while he begins to convince Nadia that Katherine is selfish.

In the video promo, it appears that Bonnie and Jeremy are once again going to turn to the new witch to perform another location spell. In the meantime, Damon is going to get into a "nasty confrontation" with Tyler before he escapes and seeks Dr. Wes for revenge.

The CW also released a sneak peek from Episode 15 in which Stefan tells Damon about Elena's possession while he is chained to a wall.

The synopsis for this week's episode reads: "While Nadia remembers her centuries-long search for her mother, Stefan, Caroline and Matt come up with a desperate new plan to save Elena's life. For the second time, Bonnie and Jeremy must turn to Liv for help. Damon baits Tyler into a nasty confrontation, then takes off to seek revenge on Dr. Wes. Caroline and Tyler come to a new understanding. Finally, Bonnie learns of a terrifying secret that will threaten the lives of all her friends."
