When we said Karl Lagerfeld was a genius, we meant it.
Who else would think to stage a supermarket themed fashion show? It's not exactly a fashionable place. People hardly get all gussied up to go, and there's nothing particularly special about a food store.
That is until Karl Lagerfeld had his turn with it.
Welcome to the Chanel Shopping Center, formerly known as the Grand Palais. Chanel-branded mineral water was part of the backdrop. Walls of color-coordinated drinks lined the shelves, and the models came from all possible corners and walked the supermarket. The models shopped and carried their groceries in a basket. But not just any basket. This one was chain-woven basket reminiscent of Chanel purses.
"For me the supermarket is the pop art of today," said Lagerfeld after his show. He also admitted that he rarely goes to the supermarket.
Announcements intermittently interrupted the music. Karl Lagerfeld also told his "valued customers" that they could take the sweets and vegetables with them. Everything was brilliantly marketed. Chocolate bars had the words Choco on the label, a nod to the brand's founder, Coco Chanel.
At one point, Rihanna's music blared.
Of course, the Bajan singer was present. She wore a tweed Chanel suit and wore sneakers, basically blending in with the other models. There didn't seem to be a heel in sight at the show. Instead, there were lace-up flat boots.
Either way, Rihanna was having a blast.
Her pal, Cara Delevingne, closed out the show and walked with Karl Lagerfeld down the store.
Rihanna and Delevingne were later spotted sitting in a shopping cart, much like you may have done as a child.
And at this point, it wouldn't be a fashion show without the appearance of Kendall Jenner.
That's right, 18-year-old Jenner scored yet another in-demand gig.
