AMC's original series "Breaking Bad" has been an epic ride. We've seen a chemistry teacher spawn into a crystal meth drug kingpin and a family torn to shreds from the inside out. We've seen a junkie get his life together, only to relapse, playing a key role in his girlfriend's overdose. We've also met a slew of intriguing, larger-than-life characters that have kept us engaged and begging for more.

Back in April, rumors surfaced that Saul Goodman, the skeevy unorthodox lawyer from AMC's "Breaking Bad," could be getting his own spin-off series. Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) brings humor and lighthearted fun to an otherwise dark, intense drama. Although Odenkirk's character helps criminals finagle their way out of legal trouble, he always does it with an upbeat, quirky attitude that entices the viewer. No matter the dilemma, Goodman always finds a way out. His book of tricks is endless, so why should they end after the series finale of "Breaking Bad?"

It won't. In a recent interview at the Television Critics Associations' summer press tour in Beverly Hills, "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan opened up about his dire hopes for the spin-off to carry on the "Breaking Bad" legacy.

"It is my fervent wish that there will be a Saul Goodman spin-off," Gilligan said. "I'm not speaking for any company or professional entity when I say that I really hope it happens. I would very much like it to [come to fruition]. And creatively, we're working toward that."

"I love everything that Vince just said," added Odenkirk. "I would love to do it. I'd do it in a second. Because if Vince wrote it, it's going to be awesome."

So while "Breaking Bad" will come to a conclusion this fall, its spirit could live on in the form of Saul Goodman.

"Breaking Bad" returns to AMC August 11.
