On the latest episode of "NCIS," the team investigated faulty—and deadly—bulletproof vests.

In "Bulletproof," the NCIS team investigated the charge that faulty body armor was being sent to the U.S. military overseas by well-intentioned loved ones.

It turns out the equipment troops were receiving was dangerous as well as ineffective. When the armor is hit by weapons, the ceramic plates inside the vests burst, and the shards go into the flesh of the victims. Therefore, they pose a danger to anyone being shot at.

The team gathers more information on the vests, and tracks the vests to a company run by a woman who runs a popular gun show.

While gathering intel, McGee (Sean Murray) and Gibbs (Mark Harmon) get to know a Marine sergeant named Freddie Linn, who received a vest from his mother, but was later paralyzed due to the faultiness of the vest. Linn is helpful in the investigation, and also helps McGee with his personal issues.

McGee said he is having trouble getting Delilah (Margo Harshman) back to her old self, and he isn't sure how to act around her. Linn reminds McGee that there is no way to get back to how life was pre-paralyzation, and that he can only move courageously forward. The advice helps, and he introduces Delilah to Linn.

Meanwhile, Bishop (Emily Wickersham) gets used to her duties as a "probie." She is fine with the practice of hand-to-hand combat, but dislikes some of the tedious, and sometimes disgusting work (i.e., searching through human waste to find contraband).

The team then confronts Fay Gussman, the woman who runs the gun show and supplies the company with the materials for the faulty vests. When she sees the team pulling up, she goes into her trailer and opens fire, striking Bishop (who is saved by a working bulletproof vest) and getting killed after trying to cover herself with one of the faulty vests.

The team recovers all the ineffective and dangerous equipment and ensures that no other military members receive the faulty vests.

On the next episode, "Dressed to Kill," "Guns are drawn when DiNozzo confronts a man impersonating a Navy officer and the perpetrator is left dead. The investigation reveals that the only witness is DiNozzo's father, who is in town to disclose a secret to his son."
