A large scale beta for The Elder Scrolls Online will take place the weekend of Feb. 28 through March 2 on the PC for those lucky enough to be chosen to try out the hot new MMORPG.
This beta will not be an open beta, so if you want to try out the game you will have to sign up to be a beta participant and hope you're chosen. It is unclear what aspects of the game will be covered by the beta, but considering this will be the largest beta available so far for The Elder Scrolls Online, many may get the chance to finally test out the game.
The Elder Scrolls Online is set for an April release on PC, so if you're unable to play the game during the weekend you'll be able to get your hands on the game soon enough. Like the single-player Elder Scrolls games, the new game is also coming to the PlayStation 4. However, that version of the game will not be available until June and will have a separate beta program for fans for when the game is closer to release.
Consisting of recreations from Skyrim, Morrowind, and other areas found in previous Elder Scrolls games, The Elder Scrolls Online will be the biggest game ever in a series known for giving players a huge amount of territory to explore. Players will be able to form groups and alliances and either explore areas together or get involved with the player vs. player areas that will feature teams facing off in epic siege warfare. Players can either charge at enemy forts or try to break down the walls or use special siege weapons to take out invading armies and their fortifications in order to win the fort.
Conquering enemy territory, defend your own fort, and running missions for your alliance will get players alliance points that can be used to level up. If an alliance takes over every fort in a territory then the alliance will receive special buffs that will affect each and every player in the alliance. Eventually if one player wins a certain amount of alliance points then they will be declared Emperor of the area, but players must put in a serious amount of work in order to reach this level.
