When fans tune in to the midseason premiere of "Grey's Anatomy," some questions will arise about Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) offspring--specifically about offspring that he may not have had with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo).
TVLine reports that the upcoming episode will have fans asking, "Is there a little Derek Shepherd running around out there that we never knew about?!"
Also, the first five minutes of the midseason premiere is promised to be "bananas," as fans will see April's (Sarah Drew) answer to Jackson (Jesse Williams).
Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) will also struggle to maintain their complicated relationship when the series resumes.
Jessica Capshaw opened up to TVLine about her much-maligned character. Capshaw said she agrees with fans that Arizona is being selfish.
"I don't know if it's ever OK for someone to be selfish," Capshaw shared. "Perhaps there's a time and place to be self-centered, but I think selfish never really wins the race. But Arizona has always been so upstanding. She's always had such a great moral center and a happy-go-lucky attitude - nothing ever sort of challenged her likability."
Capshaw continued, "And when she lost her leg, instead of being someone who focused on the fact that she survived, she was completely focused on what she had lost. I don't know why she couldn't get over that, because it seems like a no-brainer, like, "You're alive! Why wouldn't you just be thankful you're alive?'" She couldn't! And I think it led her down a road to do everything wrong and see what that felt like."
Capshaw said that Arizona is now trying to lift herself out of a "rabbit hole" of infidelity, which included her fling with Leah.
"My heart gets very tender when it comes to playing someone who has wronged someone else. I almost feel like it's easier for me to play having been wronged than it is to actually feel like you had an active part in hurting someone," Capshaw said. "So I've tried to gloss over whatever Arizona did to Leah, like, "It was nothing! It was fine! It was just a thing!" [Laughs] But, in reality, it's horrible. And Arizona is her superior. It's just very messy!"
When the series resumes, someone on the Grey Sloan staff will be unhappy about Arizona--and the rest of the staff's-- constant hookups.
TVGuide reported that someone will get uncomfortable with all of the promiscuity among the staff, and will take the information to the human resources department.
TVLine released a series of exclusive photos from the upcoming episode, including photos of Alex (Justin Chambers) with his ailing father and Callie (Sara Ramirez) talking to Arizona (Jessica Capshaw). Check out the photos here.
The second half of the 10th season will also see the debut of Alex's father Jimmy's (James Remar) estranged wife, played by "Victorious" alum Susan Chuang. She will be lured to Grey Sloan Memorial under false pretenses, and will not be too happy with her husband.
Additionally, Paul James ("Greek") will join the cast this season in a potentially recurring role. His character will come to hospital to assist with research. James has also appeared on "Torchwood: Miracle Day," "CSI: NY" and "Shameless."
The synopsis for the upcoming episode, "Take It Back," reads: "The doctors face the consequences of the events that took place at April's wedding. Meredith feels betrayed when Derek goes back on a promise, Alex is furious after returning to the hospital and hearing the news about his father (returning guest star James Remar), and Arizona and Callie decide whether or not to move forward together. Meanwhile, Bailey realizes she was wrong about the motive behind Ben's decision to move back to Seattle."
The next episode of "Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
