The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were filled with victories, crushing defeats and lasting memories, but now it must all come to an end.

The Winter Games will go out with a bang on Sunday, Feb. 23 as a massive closing ceremony will be held at the Fisht Olympic Stadium starting at 11 a.m. Et on NBC. NBC will also replay it at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Just like in the opening ceremony, Russia will present more cultural performances, featuring world renowned soprano Jo Sumi, jazz vocalist Na Yoon Sun, musician Lee Seung Chul and pianist Yang Bang Eon, Yahoo! Singapore reports. However, South Korea will take a leading role in the ceremony since it will host the next Winter Games. During the event, the Olympic flag will be passed on to Pyeongchang's organizing committee, which is in charge of the 2018 Olympics.

It's not clear whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will make a speech at the closing ceremony, however, many people will be paying close attention to the speech that the IOC will deliver, states the Bleacher Report.

The United States will send a delegation for the ceremony that includes gay athletes Billie Jean King, Brian Boitano and Caitlin Cahow as a political symbol of protest against Russia's anti-gay-propaganda laws.

The American flag will be carried by four-time Olympian Julie Chu, who helped the U.S. women's hockey team earn a silver medal. This will be a huge honor for Chu, the first Asian-American to play on the women's hockey team and one of the greatest female hockey players in the nation's history, reports Us Weekly.

"I'm completely humbled and kind of in shock. I never imagined that this would happen, especially knowing how strong the U.S. delegation is," said the 31-year-old athlete, according to TeamUSA.org. "Our team has so many inspiring athletes who I've gotten a chance to root for. This is special and I don't take it lightly."
