The Sochi Olympics biathlon event will reach its tipping point on Saturday, when the world's finest biathlon nations compete for the remaining gold in the men's 4x7.5 kilometers relay in Sochi, Russia.

Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway attempts to close out his career on a winning note as he aims for a record-breaking ninth Olympic gold medal. Bjoerndalen currently holds eight Olympic gold medals, the same number Norwegian great Bjoern Daehlie harvested during his career.

"Ole Einar Bjoerndalen can give his Olympic career a fitting farewell by setting yet another record in the final men's biathlon race at the Sochi Games on Saturday. Competing in his sixth and - by his own account - last Olympics, the Norwegian standout is after his ninth career gold medal in the men's 4x7.5-kilometer relay," The Telegraph reported.

But even though he failed to come up with the gold on Saturday, the 40-year-old Bjoerndalen had already made a name in this year's Olympics by winning the 10K sprint gold and breaking Daehlie's medal haul of 12 following Norway's mixed relay victory earlier this week.

Aside from Bjoerndalen, Norway will boast a formidable team consisting of Emil Hegle Svendsen, Tarjei Boe and Johannes Thingnes, who are all capable of dominating their rivals.

"Bjoerndalen will be in the limelight once again, but don't overlook the depth of the Norwegian team. Emil Hegle Svendsen bounced back from a disappointing first week to win two gold medals, while former overall World Cup champion Tarjei Boe and his younger brother Johannes Thingnes complete the team, which is not only the defending champion but also a huge favorite to win again," the Telegraph reported.

The Germans are expected to make things interesting during Saturday's men's 4x7.5 kilometer relay. While the Norwegians are the hands-down favorite, the Germans possess another Biathlon great in Ricco Gross.

Martin Fourcade of France and Ondrej Moravec of Czech Republic will also have opportunity to tie Bjoerndalen's feat of four medals in the same Olympics.
