William Levy's new telenovela "La Tempestad" finally has a US date.
Univision announced that the new telenovela will begin on July 29 at 9 pm. The series will replace the highly successful novela "Amores Verdaderos." The US is the eighth country to receive the telenovela. It recently premiered in Venezuela, Peru, Honduras, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico.
The series, also starring Ximena Navarrete and Ivan Sanchez, tells the story of Capitan Damian Fabre (Levy ) and Marina (Navarrete). Marina is a manager at a hotel who gets fired from her work when she discovers her boss sexually abusing a co-worker and presses legal charges against him. At the same time she receives the news that her mother has a serious illness and must move to a new town.
Meanwhile Damian is a young Captain of the boat "La Tempestad." He works for a factory "El Neptuno" owned by Mercedes (Daniela Romo). Mercedes offers Marina a job and she accepts because her mother would be living in a better area. However Mercedes has double intentions because she is Marina's real mother. She was forced to give up her daughter when she was young and therefore dedicated her life to saving the lives of many young women.
When Marina moves to the town she meets Damian and Hernan Saldana (Ivan Sanchez), a former schoolmate who does illegal business and attempts to ruin El Neptuno. As a result Marina and Damian decide to join forces to save the company.
The series marks Levy's return to the soap opera. He was previously filming two Hollywood movies entitled "Addicted" and "Single's Mom's House." He will soon join Jada Pinkett Smith for a new movie "Salsa."
"La Tempestad" was produced by Salvador Mejia and is said to be the most expensive series ever produced for Televisa. Christina Aguilera and Alejandro Fernandez sang the theme song entitled "Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti" and premiered their music video on YouTube. The series also stars Laura Carmine, Jessica Coch, Arturo Peniche, Marianna Seoane, Robert Blandon, Diana Bracho, Cesar Evora, Alfonso Herrera, Latin Lover and Luis Manuel Avila. "La Tempestad" is based on the Colombian telenovela "La Tormenta."
