The Oakland Raiders are reportedly entertaining offers for incoming third-year quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who became dispensable because of durability issues and inconsistency as the team's premier signal-caller last season.
Sports World Report broke the news on the Raiders' interest to shop Pryor, as they look to bring in a new quarterback next season.
"According to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times, the Raiders are willing to trade Pryor come the official offseason and are listening to offers from other teams. This rumor has been speculating since the Raiders' 2013 season ended," Sports World Report indicated.
Pryor emerged as the team's starting quarterback during training camp before the 2013 season. In his first few games, Pryor showed his explosive two-way offense as he inflicted damage on opponents' defense through his accurate passing and rushing ability.
However, Pryor sustained a setback midway into the season after suffering a knee injury in a game against the Denver Broncos on December 29. Still, Pryor finished the season with 1,798 passing yards and seven TDs. He also rushed for 476 yards with two touchdowns.
Despite putting up solid stats, Pryor is considered a trade chip that could be converted into valuable draft picks or substituted into another high-ceiling young player. On the other hand, some NFL pundits believed Pryor is on his way to becoming a really good player in the next few seasons.
"People have underestimated him," one NFL scout told NFL columnist Dan Pompei of Bleacher Report in the days following that game. "His skills are coming together and he is showing command. He's playing with more confidence and throwing accurately."
However, the Raiders front office appears determined to unload Pryor this offseason. Fortunately for the Raiders, there are several teams that already expressed their interest in landing the young signal caller, one of which are the Philadelphia Eagles.
It's no secret that Eales coach Chip Kelly desires to get a big, speedy quarterback like Pryor, who could excel in his high-octane offensive system. In fact, Kelly attempted to recruit Pryor to Oregon Ducks during his high school years, but the blue-chip signal-caller decided to join the Ohio State Buckeyes.
