Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum has a piece of advice for Amir Khan: the British boxing icon should move on and consider other options instead of waiting for Floyd Mayweather to announce his next opponent.

Khan has been considered as the favorite to land a bout with Mayweather, but the Bolton native recently said that he has not heard anything from the undefeated Mayweather regarding who he intends to face in his next fight, scheduled on May 3 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

According to Arum, Mayweather has been disrespecting Khan by giving no hint of whether or not a fight will be finalized soon.

"Amir Khan has put himself in a position where he can be humiliated. He's like a laughing stock. Terrible. Absolutely terrible," Arum said in a recent interview, BoxingScene reported. "He's not fighting back and telling these guys to get lost. Get another promoter, maybe go back to Frank Warren, get another opponent and tell them to piss off."

Arum pointed out that Khan had to turn down several opportunities in hopes of landing a bout with Mayweather.

The 27-year-old Bolton native was supposed to face Devon Alexander in an IBF welterweight title showdown in December, but Khan withdrew from the proposed showdown after he was allegedly informed that he has a good chance of landing a bout with the reigning pound-for-pound king.

But after being considered as the most likely opponent for the undefeated Mayweather, the latest rumors are indicating that Marcos Maidana is now the front-runner in the race to land the Mayweather bout.

"What he has done to Amir Khan is absolutely disgraceful, whether he ends up fighting him, or he doesn't," Arum said. "My feeling is he is not going to fight him, but it's disgraceful to do that to another human being because you are in a position to do that. Just because he has the power where you can do something like that."

Mayweather has been quiet about his plans over the past few weeks since conducting an online poll, asking his fans to help him choose his opponent for his next fight. Khan won the poll by a mile, but it seems irrelevant at this point.
