The New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly discussing a deal involving Iman Shumpert, who has been on the trading block all season long.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Knicks and the Clippers are in talks about a potential trade that would send Shumpert to the Clippers along with Raymond Felton for a package involving Darren Collison.

No deal is imminent at this point since both teams are still sorting out the details of the potential trade, but sources indicated that the Clippers are determined to acquire Shumpert from the Knicks in hopes of adding another wingman after J.J. Redick went down with a back injury.

Shumpert has been inconsistent all season long allegedly because of his strained relationship with Knicks coach Mike Woodson.

The 23-year-old guard is averaging just 7.0 points and 4.5 rebounds a game this season, and NBA analysts believe that a change of scenery could work well for the former Georgia Tech standout.

"The discussions and proposed players are still fluid, league sources said, and a deal isn't close to being reached," Yahoo Sports reported. "Shumpert is an object of interest for the Clippers and the recent return of All-Star point guard Chris Paul makes Collison more expendable."

On the other hand, Collison could be a quick fix to the Knicks' point guard woes this season. The Knicks' point guard rotation is arguably their weakest spot as it was hit by different injuries all-season long.

While acquiring Collison will not be as impactful as acquiring their primary targets Rajon Rondo and Kyle Lowry, the 26-year-old guard has shown his ability to contribute if given enough playing time.

In January, Collison took the starting role for the Clippers after All-Star point guard Chris Paul went down with a shoulder injury. The fifth-year guard rose to the occasion as he averaged 14.4 points to go along with 6.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 31.2 minutes in 16 games.

But while Collison could be a good stop-gap solution for the Knicks point guard woes, sources said that the Clippers would have to add key pieces to convince the Knicks to pull the trigger on the deal before Thursday's NBA trade deadline.
