The latest episode of "Castle" involved the mysterious death at a prestigious prep school that had ties to a modern-day "Carrie."
In "Smells Like Teen Spirit," a prep school girl is Facetiming with friends when she is suddenly thrown about by an unseen force and killed. Her friends witness the murder, but are afraid to tell Castle (Nathan Fillion) or Beckett (Stana Katic) out of fear of sharing information about their prep school, which is related to the death of their late friend, Madison Beaumont.
Castle and Beckett start their investigation, and Castle starts having flashbacks, as he attended the prep school as a teenager.
The principal then shows them footage of what Castle calls a "real life Carrie."
Jordan (Hannah Marks), who was victimized by the murder victim and her friends, appears to use telekinesis to get revenge on the bullies. Beckett thinks Castle is crazy for thinking the girl can actually do telekinesis, until they see a guy floating in the air. Beckett is shocked at first, but still thinks there must be another explanation for the "magic."
They learn that Jordan did not commit the crime, although she did hate the girls who were bullying her.
More investigating leads them to the Russian literature section in the library, where they discover a stash of a million dollars worth of German bearer bonds.
Madison had been committing robberies to buy expensive Jimmy Choo shoes, and the modern-day Carrie was being helped by a classmate who is an expert at special effects. It turns out Madison forced the special effects whiz and Jordan to do work for her. The work involved faking the video with her friends, which made one of her friends--who was also forced to take part in Madison's robberies--angry enough to kill her.
In the end, Castle and Beckett attend a dance at the high school, where they decide upon a wedding song: "In My Veins," an acoustic song by Andrew Belle.
The episode also involves the pair telling their high school prom experiences, or lack thereof. Beckett shares that she went to a poetry slam instead of attending prom, and Castle--who had a scholarship--was kicked out of prep school due to an elaborate cow prank.
On the next episode, "Room 147," "Castle and Beckett seemingly have an open and shut murder case when a woman confesses to having murdered a struggling actor. But when they determine the woman couldn't have done it, another comes forward to confess just as convinced they did the murder. The team realizes that multiple confessions by strangers have made this a mysterious case indeed."
Later on in the season, the 20th episode will be called "That '70s Show," and rumor has it that the show will be set in 1970s New York.
Watch the promo below for "Room 147," which airs Monday, Feb. 24 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
