Six of the best dunkers in the NBA will look to electrify the crowd when they face off against each other in the 2014 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest Saturday at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La., as NBA All-Star Weekend continues.

For the second straight season, the most anticipated All-Star Saturday Night event will pit the Eastern and Western Conference teams against each other.

All eyes will be on Toronto Raptors forward Terrence Ross as he tries to defend his Slam Dunk title against a young, but talented batch of dunkers on Saturday.

Joining Ross on the Eastern Conference team are Indiana Pacers' Paul George and Washington Wizards' Terrence Ross, while the Western Conference team is composed of the Golden State Warriors' Harrison Barnes, the Sacramento Kings' Ben McLemore, and the Portland Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard.

The three players from each conference will compete as a team following a two-round format. The first of two is called the Freestyle Round, where players from each conference can dunk as many times as they like for 90 seconds.

After that, the judges will vote for either the East  or the West, and the winning team will have the luxury of controlling the dunk order in the second round, which is known as the Battle Round—another interesting twist in this year's dunk contest.

"The Battle Round will feature head-to-head matchups pitting East dunkers vs. West dunkers, with the judges choosing a winner for each battle. Upon losing a head-to-head battle, that dunker is then eliminated from the competition. The first team to win three battles will win the competition and be crowned 2014 Sprite Slam Dunk champions," NBA.com noted.

After the two-round showdown, fans will vote for the "Dunker of the Night" award through NBA.com, SMS, Twitter, and NBA GameTime app.

Prediction

This year's field is interesting, as all six participants are either guards or small forwards. Saturday night's dunk showdown will also mark the first time in 26 years that three All-Stars—George, Wall, and Lillard—are participating in the event.

Ross is expected to go all out to prove that his win last year was no fluke, but he will have a hard time defending his title, especially against George, who has improved a lot since finishing third during the 2012 Slam Dunk contest.

With Ross and George leading the way, the Eastern Conference team is expected to dominate in the Freestyle Round. The videos below could give fans an idea on what to expect from each of the participants during Saturday's showdown.

Predictions

Winner (Team): Eastern Conference

Winner (Dunker of the Night): Paul George
