The beta for Titanfall has only just begun, but there are reports already of the game's servers not working for the online-only multiplayer Xbox title.

The beta for the game, which has only just begun opening up to users, is experiencing some server problems. Users have been unable to connect with the game, with some of the game's servers being down due to a bug. On Feb. 13 the game was reportedly working fine for the limited number of people who had access, but once the majority of beta participants were able to try out the game on Feb. 14 the server problems began to crop up.

There appears to be two problems that are preventing users from being able to play Titanfall. The game's official Twitter account says the problem lies with Microsoft. "Microsoft is still working to resolve the connectivity issues to the Beta servers," wrote the Titanfall team on Twitter. However, Xbox Live's operations manager clarified that the error messages people are receiving are due to a bug and not the game's servers being overloaded or crashing. Despite this message, EA has stated on their support forums that they are working on using the existing servers to try and fix the connectivity problem:

"Our team is working to ramp up servers for both Xbox One and PC. While many users will still have server connection issues we're working to get connectivity back to normal ASAP. We will continue to post updates until the service is back to 100 percent."

Compounding these connection problems is that EA and developer Respawn Entertainment cannot create new servers for the game so that they can allow those affected by the issue to play the game. Vince Zampella, the head of Respawn, confirmed that they are unable to create new servers for Titanfall, but assured fans that those who are able to play the game should have no further problems.

It may be tempting to point to this failure as a reason that Titanfall may not be able to deliver on the hype it has received, but considering this happened day one of the game's beta these kind of problems are to be expected. This is exactly what beta programs are for, and considering that Titanfall has no offline mode, its multiplayer-only server issues are the most likely problem the game will encounter.
