Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult's secret engagement is not too secret. As a matter of fact, it's a complete lie.
After news broke that the actors got engaged over Christmas, OK! Magazine has admitted to making the entire story up.
"OK! Magazine has issued an apology for completely falsifying a cover story claiming that Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult were engaged over the Christmas holiday, in front of her family, and with a $250,000 engagement ring," a representative for the magazine told E! News. "Not only was the basis of this cover story completely fabricated but it is in fact the second time in three months that OK! has published a false story of an engagement between the two parties."
"The fictional scenario described in the cover story, without ever checking with a representative of Lawrence or Hoult, was recklessly published to sell gossip magazines."
Hoult was not even in Lexington, Ky. with Lawrence's family on Christmas Eve. He was in England, notes Entertainment Wise. This was previously described as the perfect place to propose because the actress is so close to her family.
GossipCop reported last month that there wasn't "a word of truth" in the tabloid's story, saying that the magazine had reported that the couple was also engaged in November, which was then completely ignored with the new claims.
"In today's report, the mag makes no mention of its previous fake story, and fabricates an entirely new engagement tale. It's just embarrassing," wrote GossipCop.
In addition to releasing a statement, OK! also posted an image of Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult taking a picture at the Golden Globes, with the caption "Still So In Love," where it also apologized for the error.
