Sugar Shane Mosley believes Floyd Mayweather's defense relies not just on his patented shoulder roll stance, but also his incredible reflexes and movement inside the ring, the future Hall of Famer said in an interview with Fight Hype.

Mosley, who is coming off a loss against Anthony Mundine in Australia last November, debunked the idea that Mayweather is only using his shoulder defense to make him almost invincible inside the ring.

"There's different things that Floyd does that people don't understand," Mosley said of Mayweather, who has yet to pick his next opponent for his Cinco de Mayo showcase on May 3 at MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nev.

Mosley said that Mayweather's defense cannot be copied easily because the Grand Rapids native employs various elements like quick footwork, superb reflexes and the ability to neutralize big punch using his elbows as a shield.

"Floyd is not just doing the shoulder roll. Floyd is doing other stuff too. They think that they can just do that [shoulder roll] and it nullifies everything like Floyd does, but it doesn't. That's the misconception," Mosley explained.

"I mean, Floyd is turning, he bounces a little bit, he gives them a little angles; I mean, he's doing different things. They're just trying to do one little thing that Floyd does, but he's doing all kinds of other stuff. That's what makes him him," he added.

Adrien Broner and Andre Berto also used the same shoulder roll stance as Mayweather. However, these fighters were unable to sustain the same success the undefeated Money May demonstrated throughout his professional boxing career.

"Although we've seen fighters, such as Adrien Broner and Andre Berto, attempt to utilize the signature style, sooner or later, their opponents have found a way to break through the defense that the seemingly untouchable Mayweather has made famous over the years," Fight Hype reported.
