On Friday, the Russian Police Choir delivered an epic rendition of the Daft Punk's hit "Get Lucky" as part of the opening ceremonies at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Dressed in full military garb, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs choir put a unique spin on the Grammy-award winning song. Two singers took turns singing the lead vocals with a touch of musical theater and flair, while the stern-looking backing singers sung in the background. A third singer also took lead around the 2:40 mark.
Last year, the all-male choir, which has become popular for its wonderful covers of pop songs, released a video of their cover of the hit song while the military men danced on a smoke-filled set.
The Opening Ceremonies took place at the Fisht Olympic Stadium, a gorgeous venue that offers a clear view of the mountain peaks in the north and the sea in the south, reports Hollywood Life.
NBC's "Today" show hosts Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira emceed the event for American viewers while Bob Costas anchored the ceremony from the International Broadcast Center.
According to the The Telegraph, 15 buildings, six trains, and six bridges were built on the stage of the stadium for the event. There was also a parade in which around 40,000 spectators welcomed a record-breaking 87 nations into the Fisht Olympic Stadium in the Olympic Park.
