New York Fashion Week officially kicked off today, but for smaller brands and those trying to avoid getting lost in the craziness, the party has come and gone. Here's what you may have missed and what you should know on Day 1 of fashion's Super Bowl:

What you missed:
ZAC Zac Posen Fall/Winter 2014 was released in musical fashion. Posen teamed up with Spotify to give his collection a bit more context. Each look has two to three songs attached to it that reflect what he was feeling when designing.

Into organic, lunar and quilted fabrics? Then Organic By John Patrick is for you. The space-inspired looks mixed plastic, wool and fur in what turned out to be a very covered-up collection that's both somehow wearable and totally out there.

Gaffer's tape completely transformed Lisa Perry's boutique into a geometric backdrop filled with criss-crossed lines, not far too different from the booties that every model wore. The designer doesn't particularly favor sleek shapes, and this season, she took that to new volumes with exaggerated swing coats and puffy dresses complete with rounded shoulders.

What's coming up:

It's one of the lightest days on the schedule, so keeping up with everything is not impossible.

Can New York Fashion Week make Coach cool again? The brand, as CNBC describes it, is largely considered a "mom" brand. Fashion week, where tastemakers and fashionistas rule, may be just what it needs to make it relevant again. Brands at similar price points, such as Kate Spade, have been gaining popularity, while Coach has remained stagnant.

Creatures of the Wind, who will be showing at noon at the Pavilion, will make its Lincoln Center debut. The label, which is known for its quirky clothes, will have a bigger platform this season. With each passing season, the duo behind the brand has made moves toward commercial appeal, so today will see if it inches closer to conventionality.
