The Los Angeles Lakers is definitely working on rebuilding its team. But in a distinct way of restructuring, the team is piling up on affordable veteran deals. Adding to the list is Wesley Johnson.

After losing Dwight Howard to the Houston Rockets, the Lakers have gone on a hiring spree, signing Chris Kaman and Nick Young on a one-year contract each. Now, according to a tweet by Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times, the former Phoenix Suns shooting guard has joined the veterans in the L.A. team.

"Lakers agreed to terms with SG Wesley Johnson...1-yr deal for vet's min of $1 mill," Bresnahan posted, adding that Wesley "was 4th pick in 2010 draft, played last season for PHX."

Wesley will come in as a handy replacement for Meta World Peace who was earlier amnestied by the team. While the SG may not be the best option in scoring, he can provide good perimeter defense. In the 2012-2013 season, he averaged 8.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 19.1 minutes per game.

According to the Bleacher Report, the 6'7 player can fill in both small forward and shooting guard positions which will be very helpful to L.A. with the exit of World Peace and the uncertain return of Kobe Bryant.

The deal also seems to be in-line with the Lakers' goal to clear cap and make space for next year.

Wesley is expected to help off the bench in the coming pre and regular season games.
