The tragic death of celebrated actor Philip Seymour Hoffman will not affect the filming of the next movie in "The Hunger Games" franchise, "Mockingjay."
According to Cosmopolitan, the actor, who died from an apparent drug overdose on Sunday, had seven days left of filming. He had already completed the bulk of his filming work.
Lionsgate, the studio and distributor of the franchise, released the following statement about Hoffman's death: "Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We're very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip's family."
Stars from "The Hunger Games" released condolences about Hoffman's untimely death.
Jennifer Lawrence, director Francis Lawrence and author Suzanne Collins released a joint statement Monday on behalf of "The Hunger Games" cast and crew.
Their message reads: "Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now. Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking. Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to his family."
Sam Claflin, "Catching Fire's" Finnick Odair, described Hoffman in a tweet as a "truly wonderful man, with a magical touch." More tributes about the late actor continue to be released from the acting community and fans alike.
Hoffman, 46, was found dead in his apartment in Greenwich Village, N.Y. by a friend who became concerned after being unable to contact him. Investigators found him with a syringe in his arm and an envelope nearby containing heroin.
Hoffman had a long struggle with addiction. In a 2006 interview with "60 Minutes," he said he had given up drugs and alcohol years earlier at the age of 22. However, he checked into a rehab program for 10 days last year after developing a reliance on prescription pills that resulted in him returning to heroin.
