In a new webisode, "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter revealed his intent to expand the last season of the series with additional episodes and that controversial rocker Marilyn Manson may play a role in creating music in Season 7.
Sutter announced that he has entered into talks with FX to create more than the usual 13 episodes for Season 7 during his latest "WTF Sutter" web video.
The showrunner explained that many episodes last season ran over an hour, which resulted in "three to four" extra episodes' worth of material. While he predicted the likelihood of that happening again, he says, "I'm really trying to do my very best" to stick to a 60-minute running time.
He acknowledged that the show's licensing fees and other factors may make the prospect of additional episodes ineffective cost-wise for FX.
Sutter also dropped info about the music for the show, revealing that he has found the song that will play during the first montage of the season, as well as something else related to Marilyn Manson. While he doesn't disclose many details, he claims that Manson is interested in covering a song that he was involved with and he may use one of the legendary rock star's songs in Season 7.
Furthermore, Sutter confirmed the likely returns of CCH Pounder's DA Tyne Patterson, Peter Weller's Charlie Barosky, and "Deadwood" star Kim Dickens as Collette.
SOA writers have already begun working on Season 7, which is slated to start production in May and will premiere likely the second week of September, notes the CarterMatt.
Season 7 of "Sons of Anarchy" premieres September 2014 on FX.
