Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach said his prized fighter Manny Pacquiao is willing to do anything to arrange a showdown with pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr., the reigning Trainer of the Year said in a recent interview with Sky Sports.
Roach, who has guided Pacquiao to world championships in eight weight divisions, said the Filipino boxing icon will submit to every stipulation asked by Mayweather's camp just for a shot at the world's best pound-for-pound boxer.
"Of course he [Pacquiao] does," Roach said to Sky Sports via Boxing News 24. "It's the biggest fight in the world for him. We all want that fight and Manny especially. Manny's offered him a 60-40 split, a blood test, no problems; whatever Mayweather wants. We've agreed to anything and he just keeps ignoring us."
Pacquiao's and Mayweather's camps have met several times before, but all their meetings eventually collapsed due to disputes regarding blood testing and fight purse sharing.
Recently, Mayweather launched an online assault toward Pacquiao and Roach, calling the Filipino fighter "garbage" and desperate for a lucrative showdown with him because of the tax woes he's currently facing.
As expected, Pacquiao denied Money May's accusation and even challenged him to a charity match with proceeds of the fights going to charitable institutions around the world.
"I'm not desperate to fight him just for the sake of money or material things. I'm not the one seeking this fight; rather it's the boxing fans all over the world," Pacquiao told the Philippine Daily Inquirer via Yahoo Sports.
"I challenge him to include in our fight contract that both of us will not receive anything out of this fight. We will donate all the proceeds from the fight-guaranteed prize, should there be any, gate receipts, pay-per-view and endorsements-to charities around the world," he added.
Surprisingly, Mayweather has been quiet these past few weeks as the boxing world waits for the announcement of his next opponent on May 3 at MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nev.
Great Britain's top welterweight Amir Khan emerged as the favorite to get Mayweather's nod, but rising star Marcos Maidana could also be picked, following his impressive win over Adrien Broner in December.
On the other hand, Pacquiao has already booked a slugfest with Timothy Bradley Jr. on April 12 at MGM Grand Garden. It will mark the second time the two top welterweights in the Top Rank stable fight each other; the first match between them ended in a controversial split decision win by Bradley.
