Mexico will look to book its spot in the knockout rounds when it takes on Martinique in the final group stage match of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

El Tri has struggled throughout the last few months, but seemed to finally find a cure against Canada. The team played a flowing attacking style that generated a number of chances. The team wound up scoring twice in the match to take home a 2-0 victory. In that match, Mexico managed 13 shots on the goal with six of them being on target.

The victory seemingly calmed talks of firing Coach Jose "Chepo" de la Torre. The Mexican coach was the topic of conversation after Mexico lost to Panama in the opening match of the tournament. Prior to that loss, Mexico lost to two club teams in preparations for the tournament and was embarrassed during the Confederations Cup by upper echelon teams like Italy and Brazil.

The Mexicans will meet a Martinique team that is desperate for three points. After defeating Canada 1-0 in the opening match, Martinique fell to a solid Panamanian side that has all but clinched a berth in the knockout round.

The two sides have met twice in their history. The first game in 1983 ended in a 4-4 draw. The second one, played in 1993, ended with a 9-0 Mexican victory.

Prediction:  Expecting a high scoring game from an offensively-challenged Mexican side is unlikely. However, El Tri will pull off a 2-1 victory.

Start Time: Kickoff starts at 6 p.m. EST.
