The San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks have taken their budding rivalry to another level after their epic NFC Championship showdown two weeks ago.

The Seahawks got the best of the 49ers this year as Seattle advanced to Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, but the exchange of barbs between both teams is not over yet, as 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a swipe at their rivals—one player, in particular.

Kaepernick fired back at Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman for his infamous post-game rant on live television and for directing a choke sign towards the 49ers quarterback when he tipped a pass intended for Michael Crabtree, which proved to be the icing on the cake for Seattle's 23-17 win.

"I think everyone knows his comments were ridiculous," Kaepernick said in a statement via The New York Post. "As my dad has always told me, if you have to tell people how good you are, then how good are you really? If you have to go on national TV and try to say you're the best cornerback in the league, then you've got your own insecurities."

Kaepernick also got a fair share of criticism when he mocked the Superman-inspired touchdown celebration of Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton, but the 26-year-old QB said that what he did was completely different from Sherman's rant.

"I'm just worried about winning games and helping us get to the Super Bowl," Kaepernick said. "I can't get insulted by something that ridiculous coming from somebody like that. From the time that [championship-game final] play ended to the time his [postgame] news conference ended, let's just say it wasn't very politically correct."

The four-year veteran, who was stopped in his tracks by the Seahawks in their epic showdown, limited to a postseason-low 153 yards passing with two interceptions, added that he is aching to get back at Seattle.

Kaepernick vowed that he will not hesitate to throw passes like the one he threw two weeks ago, especially if the defender is Sherman, saying that the 25-year-old CB is afraid of the 49ers' receivers.

"I'll take that matchup every day. I feel like he's afraid of our receivers, and that's something I look forward to [exploiting] next year," Kaepernick stressed.

As for his prediction for Super Bowl Sunday, Kaepernick, as expected, picked the Denver Broncos. The former Nevada standout said that the wall-like defense of the Seahawks will be destroyed by veteran quarterback Peyton Manning and the rest of the Broncos.
