Chris Paul recently signed a five-year, $107 million contract to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers. But, an ESPN analyst explained that the All-Star point guard does not deserve his max deal, insisting he's not the type of a 'superstar' player worthy of getting that enormous amount of paycheck.

Skip Bayless, a sports analyst for ESPN's First Take, boldly said during a show that he doesn't believe Paul is a 'superstar' despite averaging 18.6 points and 9.8 assists in eight seasons in the league.

Bayless explained that Paul isn't nowhere near to the upper echelon of NBA superstars because he couldn't even lead his team past the second round of the playoffs.

"To me he [Chris Paul] is not a max salary superstar in this league, not yet, not after eight NBA seasons." Bayless said.

Bayless also tackled Paul's ability to step up his game in big time situation, detailing the point guard's failure to lead a pretty good New Orleans Hornets team past the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinal on their home floor in 2008.

"Remember in eight postseasons, he never passed the second round. Last two postseason, swept by the Spurs and then lost four straight last year to Memphis."

"This is superstar Chris Paul," said Bayless in a sarcastic way.

Stephen A. Smith, meanwhile, made a defense on behalf of CP3 as he insisted that the Clippers point guard is a true superstar and deserving for every penny in his new contract.

"When you look at what a point guard is supposed to be, he delivers," said Stephen A.
