Many companies based outside of the United States have created Super Bowl commercials that are just as memorable as ads for quintessentially American companies like Budweiser or Ford.
But the Super Bowl isn't just for American viewers. While the majority of those watching the big game are based in the U.S., sports fans from across the globe tune in for the big event. Some foreign countries air the Super Bowl, which means they also air major, American-style commercials.
Here are some of the best Super Bowl ads from foreign companies that have aired in the United States:
1. "The Force," Volkswagen, 2011
The ad was an adorable homage to Star Wars and childhood while also advertising the 2011 Volkswagen SUV.
2. "Matthew's Day Off," Honda, 2012
Matthew Broderick channeled his iconic Ferris Bueller role for this Honda spot that showed Broderick playing hooky from work and driving around in a 2012 Honda CR-V.
3. "The Next Big Thing," Samsung, 2013
Lovable comedians Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen gave a charming celebrity endorsement for Samsung that focused on the pair brainstorming ideas for a commercial for Samsung Mobile's new phone.
Here are a few of the best ads that have aired during the Super Bowl in other countries:
1. "Flash Fans," Budweiser Canada, 2012
Budweiser Canada created a heartwarming ad that focused on cheering for the everyday person. In this instance, small-time hockey players were treated to screaming, adoring fans, making them feel like they were playing in the NHL.
2. Karlovacko Beer, Croatia, 2013
While the commercial is not in English-- and focuses on Europe's biggest game, football, a.k.a American soccer-- the commercial once again celebrates the everyday sports fan.
3. Coca-Cola, Argentina, 2013
Coca-Cola's European football-themed commercial transcends language barriers, and is understandably funny even though it's not in English.
