The newest confirmed stage for Super Smash Bros. 4 is based on the Kid Icarus series, and Nintendo has revealed what fans can expect from the Wii U and 3DS versions of the stage when the game comes out in 2014.

Pit, the main character from the classic Kid Icarus series, was one of the first characters confirmed for Super Smash Bros. 4, and now, thanks to newly released screenshot we finally know what the stage based on the Kid Icarus franchise will look like. Nintendo posted a screenshot of the stage to the official website for the game, and game director Masahiro Sakurai also posted the screenshot to his personal Miiverse page, captioning the photo:

"Pic of the day. You can find this statue of the Goddess of Light in one of the stages. She's watching over the arena."

While Nintendo has formally announced the stage and revealed the background of what the stage will be like, actual details about the stage are hard to discern. The parts of the stage that users will fight on are not shown, so those hoping to learn more about the Wii U version of the Kid Icarus stage are out of luck.

The 3DS version of the Kid Icarus stage may have already been leaked by Nintendo before they showed off the Wii U version of the stage. The 3DS Stage is based on the handheld Kid Icarus: Uprising game, and features several different features than the Wii U stage. For example, the 3DS stage is set at night as opposed to the day, like the Wii U stage, and Viridi the Nature Goddess is seen in the background instead of the statue of the Goddess of Light being seen behind the stage.

In any case, the reveal of a Kid Icarus stage was expected, as Pit was already confirmed for the game. What remains to be confirmed by Nintendo, however, is when fans can expect to see the Wii U and 3DS game released. The company stated that Super Smash Bros. 4 is set to come out sometime in 2014, but have refused to narrow down when fans can expect the game to come out. So far, 21 characters have been confirmed for the game, with the latest confirmed fighter King Dedede.
