Pharr Boys & Girls Club Executive Director/C.P.O., Alfredo "Freddy" Mata, Jr., said "Representative Munoz, Jr. has worked tirelessly to promote a better quality of life for our community youth. We are very proud to have him represent our district."
"We're a part of the overall puzzle in what we want to do in partnership with our city, with our board members," Munoz told the attendees at his presentation. "Everybody is coming together here to make sure that you all have not only the best facilities, but the resources that you need to continue to do the best in your life and that's what we want at the end of the day. Reach for the stars. Believe in yourself and some of the lessons that you are going to learn here at the club are not only going to benefit you now but they are also going to be with you for the rest of your life."
The GREAT Texan Award was initiated in 2009 and awarded bi-annually post legislative session to legislators that are champions of issues and projects that enable at-risk youth to reach their full potential and succeed in school and life.
