On the latest "Nashville," Scarlett was rejected and Juliette spiraled out of control.
In "Just For What I Am," Scarlett (Clare Bowen), who nixed a deal with Kelly Clarkson and broke it off with Avery (Jonathan Jackson), is still angry at Zoey (Chaley Rose) for dating her ex. She's now back on tour with Luke (Will Chase), and is complaining about going on radio shows and press talks, which are inevitably part of her job.
Meanwhile, Rayna (Connie Britton) is having a difficult time writing a song, so she turns to Deacon (Charles Esten) for assistance. She also tells Luke that she's not ready to be his date to Gunnar's (Sam Palladio) party, and thats she's not ready to go public with their relationship.
Gunnar runs into Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts, who asks him if he would like to write a song with him. Gunnar readily agrees, prepared to focus on work. However, he keeps canceling on Zoey, who becomes very upset. Avery tells Gunnar that he should tell Zoey how he really feels.
As for Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), she is in a depressed state after six of her shows were canceled because of safety concerns and the public's general hatred toward her. Jeff (Oliver Hudson) tells her that it will blow over, but she first needs to beg the public to forgive her transgressions.
Meanwhile, Rayna and Deacon eat pizza together and talk about their happy times together. They seem to be reconnecting until Deacon's lawyer girlfriend gets home, prompting Rayna's exit.
Later, Avery knocks on Juliette's hotel door, but there's no answer. He forces his way in and sees her passed out on the bed. It's clear she has been drinking heavily. Later, Juliette tells him she's afraid that her fame is disappearing in front of her eyes, but Avery says he has faith that she'll get back on top.
Juliette prays about her situation, and shows up at Avery's house a day later, ready to write a new song.
Teddy (Eric Close) is still reeling after his wife's fatal shooting. The lawyer does not believe it was a suicide, and Teddy thinks Wyatt Industries and Lamar (Powers Booth) were possibly behind the shooting.
During Gunnar's party, Scarlett tells him that she still feels a connection with him. But this time, Gunnar tells her he doesn't feel anything anymore. A sorrowful Scarlett goes to Rayna and tells her that she feels like she has no control over her romantic or professional life.
The next day, she goes to apologize to Rayna for her outburst, and Rayna tells her that she really has to want to succeed in the music industry to achieve her dream.
Deacon also gets offered a solo contract, and Gunnar makes up with Zoey.
Rayna tells Deacon that they shouldn't work together anymore, and Rayna invites Luke to meet her daughters, taking the next step in their relationship.
On the next episode, "It's All Wrong, But It's Alright," "Jeff is expecting Juliette to formally apologize for her behavior during her Grand Ole Opry ceremony, but at the last minute she has a change of heart and decides to standby the choices she's made. Luke introduces Rayna to a power player that could help her get her distribution deal off the ground, and then surprises her with a NASCAR that is wrapped in Rayna Jayme's graphics. Deacon is discovering his record deal might not be what he expected and Scarlett's collaboration with Liam gets off to a rocky start. Will and Layla discover they aren't all that different and find comfort in one another's company and Teddy will stop at nothing to reveal Lamar's connection to Peggy's death."
TVLine also hints that another character-- a major character-- will meet their demise.
Also, Rayna and Deacon may finally get back together if the timing is right. "Deacon went through something and came out the other side of it; the [Maddie] secret is now all out in the open; Rayna is not married anymore; they've both evolved," said executive producer Dee Johnson. But, she added, "As with life, you're always dating someone when the person you really want is available. It's all about timing."
Johnson also said that Will's (Chris Carmack) struggle with his sexuality will continue.
"He still has a certain thing in mind for himself in terms of country stardom, and he still doesn't think it's possible to embrace himself in that way," she explained. "He's going to try very hard to focus on [his career] solely and remove temptation from his life."
But she said his secret will soon be revealed. "That's not something that can stay underground forever, despite anybody's best efforts. The question is, How will he handle it? And where will he be in his career path when it does come out?"
