"Criminal Minds" will debut its landmark 200th episode with the return of Emily Prentiss, who is called on to help rescue J.J. Jareau from a dangerous situation.

Last Wednesday's episode ended when a mysterious person wearing a glove grabbed J.J. from behind while she was leaving work. Her screams were muffled and her cell phone tumbled to the ground, notes TVLine. The upcoming episode, titled "200," will pick up where the cliffhanger left off when it airs Feb. 5.  

The CBS crime drama's milestone episode will also shed light onto what happened to J.J. during her year away from the BAU, which she spent at the State Department off-camera during season 6. One person that she used to work with, Michael Hastings (played by "Dollhouse" alum Tahmoh Penikett), will resurface and the two will have a less than happy reunion. The flashback will also provide insight into her abductor's origins and agenda.

"The person who has her captive is someone that she met three years ago when she was on assignment," teased show producer Erica Messer to TVLine.

"The people who have her are known for horrible torture techniques, so the threat is there, that something could happen to our sweet JJ," Messer continued. She added that "It was really interesting to watch one of our main characters have to do something that our guest cast does every week, which is scream and cry and be tortured. And so disheartening. To ask one of our heroes to do that was, I think, very uncomfortable for us to watch."

The Hollywood Reporter also notes that Paget Brewster, who was once a series regular on the CBS procedural series, will reprise her role of Emily Prentiss. 

"I believe Hotch's line is, 'Let's call in reinforcements,'" Messer shares, "and then you cut to London, England and this amazing office, and Prentiss is there in charge, like the queen looking over her domain. It's pretty great. She's a driving force in the episode."

Hotch and Prentiss will also share a special moment, Messer revealed.  

"There's a moment where Hotch asks her, 'How much longer do we have you?'  And there's this look he gives to her that makes you feel like if she was around any longer, maybe they would have grabbed a bite to eat, by themselves," reports TVLine.

Later on in the season, Messer told TVLine that the BAU will head to Vegas, but fans won't see Reid's mother Diana, "because Jane Lynch is too busy, but there is a nice little mention of her and where she and Reid are in their relationship right now."
