After nine seasons, the hit comedy series "How I Met Your Mother" will celebrate its 200th episode next Monday, Jan. 27, which will be marked by a major milestone and the first real look into the Mother's past and how she met Ted.
Unlike the show's 100th episode that focused on the whole cast, The Mother will be the star of the upcoming episode, which is aptly titled "How Your Mother Met Me." According to executive producer Carter Bays, Episode 200 will disclose what she's has been up to all these years, while "intersecting" her path at times with familiar past storylines.
"It's a fun little 'Disneyland tour' through the series, from the perspective of someone outside the group," he shared at the CBS sitcom's final TCA panel, reports TVLine.
Bays went on to praise Tony nominee Cristin Milioti in her role as The Mother in the episode, saying "It's very emotional, and we could not have done this with any other actress." The EP added that "There's a lot of live music coming up."
The epic episode will also reveal the names of Ted and The Mother's son and daughter, played by David Henrie and Lyndsy Fonseca, respectively, TVLine reports.
CBS issued a press release with an official synopsis about next Monday's show, which reads: "On the 200th episode, The Mother recounts how she met Ted and what she's been up to for the past eight years, on the final season."
Later on in the departing series, EP Craig Thomas shared that "There's an episode coming up about the fact that Robin's mom hasn't come to the wedding - and Lily really, really wants Robin to be upset about it. Lily thinks Robin needs this emotional catharsis about this fact."
By the end of series, viewers will learn that there is a specific reason why Adult Ted chose the time he did to tell the children about how he met The Mother.
Also at the show's farewell TCA panel, Thomas unveiled details about the series finale on March 31. The series finale is titled "Last Forever," which, like many HIMYM episodes, will play around with the timeline, he said according to TV Guide.
"We're a very time-jumpy show, so you will see a lot of the future and where everyone is in the end," said the HIMYM co-creator, admitting that he and Bays haven't written the finale yet, but "we know what the last minute or two is like."
"How I Met Your Mother" S9E16 is set to air on Monday, Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
